Hailing from Dorset, UK, Indie Rock/Funk combo The Salt blends the musical talents of Zac Withers (guitars, vocals), Patrick Chiverton (guitars), Ben Eve (bass) and Oran Cooch (drums), taking their influences from bands such as Bombay Bicycle Club, Arctic Monkeys and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Forming in 2015, the group started out as a three-piece, (Jason Dominguez on drums) playing local festivals like Jurassic Fields. Within a few months, The Salt shifted their focus to developing an ‘Indie’ style that took influence from Two Door Cinema Club and Bombay Bicycle Club. At this point the band completed their frontline, taking on session guitarist Pat Chiverton who has played alongside PJ Harvey and The Wurzels.
Late 2016 saw the departure of Jason from the band, just weeks before the release of the Not the Plan EP. This prompted a reshuffle in the band’s line-up, recruiting a new drummer, Oran Cooch, musician/artist, who’d played in the Magic Drum Orchestra.
The Salt released Drive, their first single from their upcoming album in Autumn 2017, followed by I Want That in late November. On December 29th at the Chicago Rock Café in Yeovil, Somerset, the group staged an album release gig with guest Ellie Timlin and supports Pizza For Dogs, showcasing their self-produced album, All I’m Sayin’, and marking the release of the tracks on all major platforms.
